“ Was in the area and had to try a Yelp Top 100 spot and it was a great choice. Legit middle eastern food in a fast casual environment. All the meats were flavorful and the pita is freshly baked there. The sides are massive for a dinner plate which gets 2 sides. If you're in the area, highly recommend it! ”
“ Having been to De Babel many many many times before, I am now able to write the best review possible for this amazing, family owner and operated restaurant. Right when you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile and greeting, usually a "welcome back" to returning customers. I believe the 2 brothers run the kitchen with other family while one of the sons runs the counter. They remember almost everyone that comes in and are genuinely some of the nicest people. The restaurant itself gives the upscale, casual vibe to match the elevated style of classic dishes they serve. Food wise, I always end up getting the Mixed Grill plate with either Fattosh or Tabouleh salad and Baba Ganoush. As a middle eastern person with amazing cooks in my family, I can say with great certainty that the Baba at De Babel is the best I have ever had in my life. Very authentic, smokey, and pure deliciousness. The meats are cooks very well and paired with the warm fresh bread, to die for. There is no shortage of food and the portions are huge. The Mixed Grill says it is good for about 2-3 people but in reality make that 3-4 people who are very hungry. Coupled with the bread and sides you will be very full. Their tahini sauce is also perfectly done. Everything here, no matter what you get is phenomenal and you will not be disappointed. They are generally busy all the time so go whenever but know you may have to wait a little in line to order. For large groups consider taking to-go as there are only a few large tables. Overall, this is one of the best middle eastern restaurants in the Valley and greater Arizona. You must try this spot and trust me, you will leave extremely full but wanting more. ”
“ Ridiculous, just ridiculous. That's how good this place is and how consistent they are. Food is always absolutely delicious, service is always excellent, restaurant is always clean and the place is always packed full of happy patrons. No wonder they won #3 place to eat on Yelp! Even though it is 40 minutes from home, my family and I try to come here often, and even then it is not often enough. The best Middle Eastern food in AZ hands down! Thank you De Babel for another wonderful experience. ”
“ De Babel is a great Middle Eastern spot that was an unknown gem until recently being put on Yelp's top 100 places to eat in the United States. After seeing it on the list at #3 and only a hop, skip, and a jump from my work I had to try it out. Once you walk in, you are greeted by very friendly staff members who want to help you navigate the menu if you are new there. I went on two separate occasions this week because I had to try two items before giving it a review. One sandwich will satisfy your appetite and it is going to be under $15 as well. It is reasonably priced, fast service, and most importantly, great food. The meat, specifically the lamb, is flavorful and tender. Both sandwiches are accompanied with pickles, humus, tzatziki sauce, tomatoes or French fries. The pita encapsulates the sandwich which is something that I have never experienced before. It makes it not as messy and keeps everything from falling out. I ordered the falafel as well which was good and a good appetizer. If you are looking to expand your horizons, this is a great place to start. ”
“ Waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too expensive for my living means at this time. I'm just a guy trying to get back on feet after relapsing and being evicted from my studio apt. 18 months ago. Excuse me. ”
“ Super busy during lunch time and when ordering was informed it would be about 20 minutes. The tables are limited but we got a spot after about 10 min. We got the gyro and chicken shawarma lunch combo with the hummus and okra as the sides. The hummus and pita bread was awesome. Both of the meats were nicely grilled and the sauces were tasty. The okra isn't deep fried, just a slight misunderstanding at the counter. The staff were friendly and welcoming. ”
“ De Babel is an absolute hidden gem! From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted, and the friendly, helpful staff made me feel right at home. The atmosphere is laid-back, clean, and bright, giving off a welcoming vibe that instantly puts you at ease. But let's talk about the food, oh my, where do I even begin? I'm extremely picky when it comes to dolma; it's my favorite dish, and I always order it at every Mediterranean restaurant I visit. My family and friends know just how much I love it, and I've tasted it everywhere, so I can confidently say I'm practically a pro at judging it. The dolma at De Babel blew me away! It was perfection, homemade style with just the right amount of filling, not overly stuffed, and each ingredient was perfectly balanced. I've never had dolma this good outside of a family kitchen. It was truly impressive! The rest of the menu was just as incredible. The hummus was smooth, rich, and perfectly seasoned. The pita bread was thick, warm, and freshly made, complementing the hummus beautifully. The portions were unbelievably generous. I was amazed at how much food we got for such reasonable prices. Every dish was clearly made with quality ingredients, and the flavors were simply fantastic. We ordered chicken and meat dishes that were bursting with flavor, and the servings were so huge we were happily stuffed by the end. I absolutely loved every bite and couldn't get enough of it. It's rare to find a place that nails both flavor and portion size, but De Babel did just that. I can't recommend this place enough! It's one of those spots where you feel welcomed the moment you step in, and you leave already planning your next visit. De Babel is definitely worth checking out, and I can't wait to go back! If you love authentic Middle Eastern comfort food, this place is an absolute must-visit. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! ”
“ My friend at work told me about this place.. He said it was one of the best and they make their own pita bread.. So had to give it a try. He did warn me that they are on the pricey side. Nice and clean and staff was very friendly.. You order and sit and they bring the food to you. Ordered the lamb tikka (dinner portion) and picked babaganoush and lentil soup. Comes with one pita so ordered 2 extra pita. Also ordered gyro lunch with chopped salad for side and one drink. OK, so he wasn't joking it was little on the expensive side, $55 for what I ordered... $27 for dinner plate. Lentil soup was sooo yummy. Nice flavorful, little nutty and clean tasting, I could have had large bowl of that. Lamb.. Well dang. It was very yummy and very tender. Babaganoush was very yummy but little too big of chunks for my liking. Gyro was also very yummy and dang. The size of the chopped salad.. I would have preferred 2 smaller sides vs large one side. Oh and the nice hot home made pita bread, man, it was nice fluffy, hot, and soft.. Probably best pita I've ever had at restaurant.. Over all food was pretty good but seemed little too high for what you got. It was yummy over all and I want to try to spicy lentil soup.. I would come back here again but considering green corner is just as good and way less cost.. I would not make the extra long trip just to come here. ”
“ The food is different and is amazing. The ambiance is also nice with good customer service. ”
“ Mmmmmmmmmm. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I strongly suggest a visit:). This is one of my favorites that I frequent when in AZ. ”
